27 December 2009

Dear Family & Friends,

As the year 2009 comes to a close we thought that we would send out a New Years Letter instead of a Christmas letter to wrap up the year. This is not because we procrastinated so long that we are forced to do the New Years letter. Believe it or not we actually had planned it this way. So while we are sorry to disappoint you and not send you a Christmas card we are happy to send this New Years letter your way.

While 2009 was a wild ride for much of the country and world it has been a good year for our family. We have learned some important lessons from the economic situation and a return to the basics and necessities of life.

Charley and Julene remain deeply in love with each other and celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary back in August. Wow twenty years passed by so quickly that they decided to give it another twenty since the first twenty was so good.

Charley remains employed with Kitchell Contractors as Project Superintendent amid the trying times. He is just so grateful that he has a job. The challenge is just beginning as he found out a few weeks ago that he will have to travel out of state to continue working and providing for his family. He is California bound and will be commuting back every few weeks or so.

He continues to serve on the High Council in his church assignments and has loved every minute of it. While challenging with all the responsibility it is a very rewarding calling. Heavenly Father continues to bless our family each and every day and we are ever grateful for all that we have and the love we share as a family.

Julene continues to serve the Young Women of the ward as the President of the Young Women. She has served faithfully for many years now and loves it.

Since our littlest one attends full time school now Julene has taken on a part time job to help out with the family finances. She enjoys this job and works with one of her really good friends. She is able to work the hours that she wants and still be home to get the kids and attend to their every need.

She has a strong testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ and feels his power in her live each and every day. She loves being a Mother and feels this is her greatest calling in life.

Alyssa found a really good job that she loved earlier this year and was working full time during the day and attending school at night. She found this to be quite tiresome and desired to attend school during the day. She made the decision to quit work after having saved enough money and switch to the day school in 2010. She will complete sometime during the summer and hopes to be cutting your hair for a profit by then.

Alyssa served as a primary teacher in our ward until she decided that she would like to attend the singles ward. She has had it rough the last few months since her boyfriend moved back to Utah. While hard on her we have enjoyed her being home with us on the weekends. Her light continues to shine through each and every day and she loves setting a good example for her younger sisters. She loves the Savior and will continue to serve him well.

Jessica is doing well at school and loves the medical field. She desires to become a doctor someday and is well on her way to achieving this goal. Her school is wonderful and teaches her a lot. She is a junior now and is looking forward to getting her drivers license someday. Maybe! Well past sixteen, she has the desire but not the will to drive. I think last years accident set her back.

She is a wonderful example of service and is babysitter to the ward. She continues to lead the Laurel Class as President and is a big help to her Mother in the Young Women’s program. She faithfully gets up for early morning seminary each and everyday and feels bad if she misses even once for an illness.

Jessica remains close to the spirit and her Savior Jesus Christ. She will make an excellent Mother someday as she is very caring to all the little children and so thoughtful to her sisters and parents.

Danielle is the socialite in the family at this point and has many friends. She loves school, her cell phone and her friends. She loves the family too and spends most of the time with the family so were not complaining that she likes her friends.

She is also the class president for the Beehive Class and leads by example. She strives for the best and is a good example to her younger sister. She loves the Savior and has a strong testimony of the gospel and all the good that it does in our lives.

Danielle is also babysitter to the ward and members reserve her and Jessica months in advance for BYU football games and other events that require babysitters due to all the competition for good babysitters. So my advice to you if you are looking for a good babysitter is to pay well and make your kids behave then you can have preferential treatment. Of course I am just kidding.

Rebecca is of course our youngest and loudest. I think this is because she has a lot of competition for attention and has to fight for it at times. She is a wonderful child of God and has been and will continue to be a blessing in each of our lives. She loves school and her friends but most of all she loves to hang out and shadow her older sisters. She loves her mom and dad and especially her little dog Jeffy.

Rebecca loves to attend primary and sing primary songs. She loves to take charge of Family Home Evening and teach the lessons.

Julene and I are ever grateful that we have the opportunity to raise such fine daughters and we love them with all our hearts. We cherish every moment that we get to spend with them and miss them when they are not at home with us.

Our parting thoughts for this year are that it has been a good one and we have been continually blessed by Heavenly Father. He plays and important role in each of our lives and we welcome the direction he provides in the midst of troubling times.

Advice for the New Year is to hold our heads high and remember that Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to succeed. If we put our trust in him we shall not fear. We will be forever better by following his wonderful example and the example of our older brother Jesus Christ.

May God bless you in your endeavors this year and be with you always. We Love you and hope to see each of you sometime during the year.

Love Always,

Charley Julene Alyssa Jessica Danielle Rebecca, and of course, Jeffy the dog
